Paul Politachi , born in Constantinople (Istanbul, modern day Turkey in 1865, was the son of Constantine Politachi (1840-1914), a merchant in cotton goods , and his wife Virginie. About 1870 the family came to England and in 1871
After his marriage to Marion Archer in 1896 he changed his name to the more anglicised Paul Plato Paul. He exhibited at the Royal Academy ten times between 1901 and 1932.
Two years later he was elected a member of the Staithes Art Club alongside Teasdale. He died at 11 Bath Road, Bedford Park, Brentford, Middlesex on 23 January 1937 aged 71.
